Two public hearings were held by Towamencin officials last night about the Walgreen’s Drug Store proposed on the site of the Old Specht School along Forty Foot Road. One of them focused on the conditional use issues that the township supervisors have 45 days to decide. The other public hearing addressed a zoning text amendment that would allow the drug store to be built without the structured parking currently required under the Village Overlay District. The developer says an underground parking garage is impractical on the five-and-a-half acre property because of the size of the site and the number of parking spots involved. The township supervisors authorized advertisement of the zoning text amendment. They could take action on it next month. The drug store would measure almost 15-thousand square feet and have a drive thru for pharmacy pickup.
