Penna Turnpike Project

There was a full house last night as the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission put its revised reconstruction plans on display for a six mile stretch of the Northeast Extension in Plymouth, Whitpain and Worcester Townships.   What’s in the works is the addition of a travel lane in each direction as well as the widening of the median strip and shoulders of the highway.   Turnpike officials say every effort has been made to minimize the impact of the project on neighboring homeowners.   The widening will cost almost 300-million dollars and is expected to get underway in the section between the Midcounty Interchange and Berks Road in about two years.
