Raising A Stink About Sewers

Lansdale Borough Council heard this week from angry residents of 15 York Avenue homes that are not properly connected to the sewer system. The hookup worked for decades, but Council President Jack Hansen says a clogged pipe under their back yards made life unpleasant earlier this year.

“They had a problem with the sewage stench in their homes, and then actually having the sewage back up into their basements, so the borough went out and opened up the line that was there, which is not a proper line to be hooked up to.”

Correcting the situation could cost each homeowner more than $4,000, but Hansen says they need proper connections, and he and other borough officials will meet with them in a few days to work things out.
