Borough Council has rolled out a budget that calls for no real estate tax increase next year. Council President Jack Hansen says department heads deserve the credit.
“They all sharpened their pencils. They sat down, they went over, they were given a directive from this council that they would have to give us a budget this year with no tax increase, and that’s what they did.”
Electric and sewer rates will also stay the same. Hansen says the budget, which comes in at just under $35 million, includes no money for replenishing the reserve fund, but they hope to sell three un-used properties and put the proceeds into the fund.
