A man who went deer hunting Monday near his Solebury home was found dead early Tuesday with a gunshot wound in his chest. 49-year-old Kenneth Hoagland’s daughter reported him missing around 8:00 Monday night. She told police he stopped at their Upper York Road home around 3:00 in the afternoon and told her he was going back into the woods to look for a deer he thought he had wounded. His body was found shortly after midnight following an extensive search using police and firefighters. Police say the wound came from his own shotgun. The Bucks County Coroner’s office has ruled that the single gunshot wound to the chest was self-inflicted. Police say he did not leave a suicide note, but he was unemployed and living with his father.
