Lansdale officials have approved a budget for next year. The spending plan totals almost $35,000,000 across all funds and does not call for a property tax increase. Electric and sewer rates will also go unchanged. Spending cuts were necessary to balance the budget without asking homeowners and consumers to dig any deeper into their pockets. The public library will now be open 50 hours a week instead of 60 but officials say they are making it available during periods of heavy usage. Other cuts include postponing the hiring of a replacement for a police officer that resigned earlier this year but borough officials will fill the sergeant position that opened up when Bob McDyer was appointed chief of the department last month.
