Lansdale Public Library hours will return to a full 60-hour week starting in May. The hours were cut back to 50 per week in January to save money in a tight budget. Borough Council President Matt West says they will use reserve funds to pay for the extra hours, but only this year.
“The Board of Trustees will be re-visiting this in the future to determine other funding sources that we can offset, and we don’t want to get into the habit of continually going into our reserve account.”
He says the library is a major asset that benefits the entire community, and they plan more fundraising activities in future years. Restoring the hours for the last eight months of this year will cost about $18,000.
