In the coming weeks, temperatures will likely drop. Pennsylvania American Water is sending out a reminder to customers to avoid what happened last winter.
“We had numerous customers who had unprotected pipes. They really didn’t take precautions. Their meters froze, their household plumbing froze.”
That’s Pennsylvania American Water Spokesman Terry Maenza. He says, if you have exposed pipes.
“Wrap them with insulation or electrical heating tape and you can even use fabric or newspapers to wrap exposed pipes.”
Maenza adds, if you have an outside meter, keep the door closed and if it snows, leave the snow around the meter because it acts as insulation.
