They got their bicycles out for the fourth annual Bike to Work Day and rode the Schuylkill River Trail into Valley Forge National Park to meet another group of bikers. Commissioner Chairman Josh Shapiro says the county is filling in the gaps along the Schuylkill River Trail so it will soon be possible to ride a bike from Philadelphia all the way into Berks County.
“That’s a great ride, it’s a great opportunity for families to be together. It’s great for property values and for people commuting to get on their bike, instead of in their cars. All in all, I think we understand here in Montgomery County and I think across the region this is true as well. If you invest in our infrastructure and our trails, good things will happen and we are really proud to do that.”
The Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association organized Bike to Work Day and brought in several bicycle shops to give tips on safe pedaling.
