Lansdale Man Sentenced in Domestic Violence Case

In a case of domestic violence that was full of inconsistencies, a judge has sentenced a Lansdale man 48 hours to 90 days behind bars for an incident with his girlfriend. Police say it happened last October 30th after officers were called to a home on Derstine Road. Police arrested 34 year old Steven DiPanfilo. His girlfriend told police he choked her, tied her up and threatened to take his own life in front of her with the use of heroin. The woman later recanted those allegations with two letters to authorities. The pregnant woman says DiPanfilo assaulted her, but the judge acquitted him on that charge, but convicted him of harassment and disorderly conduct. DiPanfilo apologized to the court and Lansdale Police for his actions. He’s also ordered to get treatment for alcohol addiction. In ordering DiPanfilo to report to jail on June 5th, the judge told him he needs incarceration to be reminded why he’s being sent to jail. His girlfriend was in the courtroom in support of him. The judge advised her that staying in a relationship with DiPanfilo after he’s released may not be unsafe.
