18 schools in Pennsylvania were recognized as being National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2016.
Two schools in Montgomery County are on the list of 18, Wissahickon High School in Ambler and Saint Genevieve School in Flourtown. The award is based on the overall academic excellence at the schools. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, under the direction of The U.S. Department of Education, is now in its 34th year. A ceremony will be held in Washington D.V. November 7th and 8th to honor the 279 schools and 50 private schools that received the blue ribbon award across the country.
