N.R.C. Limerick Nuclear Power Plant Gets Safe Rating

Federal regulators held an open house Monday night to present their take on the safety performance of the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission Assessment concludes the generating station near Pottstown operated safely last year with no significant inspection findings or performance indicators outside the normal range. N.R.C. Senior Resident Inspector Scott Rutenkroger says Federal regulators keep a close watch on what goes on at the plant.

“There are two resident inspectors that are assigned there full-time on a 40-hour week 50 some odd weeks a year. They do direct inspection. We also have regional safety inspectors come out and they come out several weeks a year”

The N.R.C. holds an open house each year after the release of its annual safety performance review of the plant.
