SEPTA General Manager Jeffery Kneupple, a recent guest on WNPV’s Comment Please By Univest, says the agency is working hard to maintain a high level of service that is required to meet the demand.
Kneupple says investment in new a fleet of trains is key.
“For the first time ever, we are buying multi-level trains for the commuter line. Forty-five cars that we just signed on to have built and that’s really exciting.”
Kneupple says buses are also being added.
“We’re buying 525 buses over the next five years. We’re even, through a special grant, getting all electric buses. So, we’re not only replacing but we’re trying to do things in a sustainable and smart way.”
Kneupple says SEPTA is also focusing on ways to improve customer experience, such as carrying out a fare collection modernization project.
