State Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding says his department is targeted for reductions under Governor Wolf’s proposed budget.
Redding says legislation has been developed to carry out the proposal which will make things difficult for the department.
“HB 218 cuts 2 million dollars off of the top line of the Department of Agriculture. As an agency that has primary responsibility for public health and safety, the implications will be public health and safety.”
Redding says the bill would force the department to eliminate 21 positions within the department.
