The Montgomery County Commissioners have a new top lawyer.
Thursday morning they hired former Philadelphia City Solicitor Shelley Smith their chief legal counsel. While working for the city, Smith managed a 12 million dollar operating budget and a staff of 325 lawyers. Commissioner Vice Chair Ken Lawrence says, Smith has the right credentials.
“All the things we deal with here on a regular basis, including labor and litigation experience. Smith also has an impeccable reputation for ethics as well.”
Smith will start work on Monday and earn almost $151,000 annually.
