High school students held a walkout today across the country in support of the 17 students and staff killed in a mass shooting one month ago in Parkland, Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
North Penn High School students took part in the walkout. Superintendent Dr. Curt Dietrich says students met outside this school this morning.
“Students who wanted to take part in the walkout were excused to do so this morning. They met outside the school where the names of the victims were read. We know that this is good for the students to come together like this for their fellow students in Florida. I know they want change and they’re doing their best to support change.”
Dietrich believes students feel safe at the school and have been going about their business. Dietrich says, the district always monitors social media for potential threats and urges all students to report anything that they may feel is a danger or threat to the school, student body or staff.
