Montgomery County has rolled out one-million dollars in transportation grants designed to help the 62 Townships and Boroughs of the County offset the cost of the local match required by the Pennsylvania Green Light Go Program.
Transportation Planner Matt Edmond made the announcement at the meeting of the County Commissioners Thursday.
“For this year at least, the plan is to partner with the projects that were awarded a PennDOT Green Light Go Grant in either May of 2017 or forthcoming in May of 2018. Up to 50 percent of their local match requirements would be what the county would give them up to 100,000 per award.”
The county funding comes from the five dollar vehicle registration fee enacted two years ago. Towamencin Township is one of the municipalities with a Green Light Go Grant pending for this year.
