Montgomery County D.A. Kevin Steele credits a mother’s suspicion in uncovering a dangerous situation concerning her 12 year old son.
Hatboro Police and the D.A.’s office say 21 year old Kevin Barron, who was a referee at the 12 year old boy’s basketball game in December, allegedly reached out to the boy and began sexually explicit conversations with him in late January on Snapchat and Instagram, asking the boy to send a photo of his genitals. Police say, the boy sent a photo. Even more troubling, according to Police, Barron has been a youth sports volunteer in Hatboro and Horsham and he’s student teaching in an elementary school in North Carolina as part of his education major at Campbell University in that state. He’s been ordered to have a staff member present when he’s teaching. Barron is charged with two counts of corruption of a minor and faces an April 19th preliminary hearing.
