Borough Council Monday night authorized putting the three-story structure out for bid.
The Borough took possession of the theatre a year ago after there were no bidders for the property at a Sheriff’s sale. Borough Manager Mike Coll says bidders need to know that Council has established criteria for the future use of the old movie theatre.
“Whoever purchases it needs to either establish a theater use or some entertainment venue. It’s spelled out what the entertainment uses are in the zoning ordinance.”
The minimum bid for the property is 150,000. Bidders are required to submit a conceptual plan for the building along with a 15,000 bid security deposit. The deadline for submitting bids is May 7th and Borough Council could take action on them that evening.
