Lansdale Borough absorbed about 117,000 last year, allowing its customers to pay their bills with credit cards.
Council Member Jason Van Dame says it’s not fair for taxpayers as a whole to fund the perks of a few.
“A lot of credit cards give points for using them so people are taking advantage of that a little bit. They’re paying their bills with the credit cards and getting the points. The taxpayers are offsetting that and taking the hit.”
Van Dame says the Borough is investigating how it can pass the credit card fees onto its customers that use credit cards to pay their bills.
