Souderton to Use CDBG Money For New Curbs and Sidewalks

New curbs and sidewalks could be in the works for Hillside Avenue between Wile Avenue and the alley way just before Main Street in Souderton.

Borough Council last week approved submission of an application for a Community Development Block Grant that would be used for the project. The grants are Federal funds administered by Montgomery County. Borough Manager Mike Coll says the curbs and sidewalks along Hillside Avenue are in varying states of disrepair.

“We’re going to focus on the residential properties and that’s why we’re stopping at the alley way, we are not going to do anything with the commercial properties that go out to Main Street.”

The project cost is almost 300,000 though Coll hopes to do better than that to keep the funding request competitive. Borough officials should hear back from Montgomery County in August or September about the status of their application.
