The idea of arming teachers in response to mass shootings at schools was subject of a State House Judiciary Committee held hearings last week.
Montgomery County Democratic State Rep. Stephen McCarter, who represents the 154th legislative District, opposes arming teachers following discussions with all of the school superintendents in his district.
“Not a single Superintendent or School Board member supports arming teachers. In fact they are adamantly opposed to the suggestion for a variety of reasons. This not a popular idea, not with the stakeholders, not with the people who will have to hold the guns.”
More hearings are scheduled this week in Harrisburg concerning the idea of arming teachers in Pennsylvania
