WNPV was quick to enter the world of talk radio.   Before the station celebrated its first anniversary, Comment Please debuted in May of 1961.  The program rightfully claims the moniker of ‘Longest running radio talk program in the Delaware Valley’. The show provided a forum for the residents of Montgomery and Bucks Counties to comment on issues local and national.  It’s provided an opportunity to feature guests and promote worthy causes in the region.   Although the hosts have changed, the program remains essentially what it has always been, a sounding board for the community. Bob Fretz, WNPV’s first News Director, was the original host of the program.

Charlolette Wenzel remembers Fred Day - February 2nd, 1985

The station’s Program Director Dick Heist was an on-again/off-again host during most of his tenure from the beginning until the mid-70’s.   Eventual station owner, John Skibbe, took calls on Comment Please during the 60’s.   John provided some much needed ‘local flavor’ when Fred Day came on board in the mid-60’s. Fred Day served as program host for 18 years, until his retirement in the early 1980’s. Day became a familiar midday voice and knew just what topics to broach when he wanted to aggravate listeners and provoke them into becoming callers. Following Fred’s departure, Jody Pikus and Bob Williams each spent a couple years hosting the show.   Darryl Berger has been the program host since 1987.   He’s interviewed thousands of guests, from governors to dog catchers and everyone in-between. Comment Please has been cited numerous times by a variety of broadcast organizations for outstanding local talk and public affairs programming.
