Broad St Rerun

wnpv_arts_entertainmentThe Second Annual Broad Street Rerun took place Saturday, on South Broad Street in Lansdale and Upper Gwynedd. The first person across the finish line was Phil Capaldi of Woxall, who says he’s been running for most of his life.

“I started it in track, and then I got into cross country in high school and in college, and it keeps getting better and better.  I like it because you can see your own improvement, but it also brings you closer to your teammates and everybody counts whether they’re first or last.  I like running on the roads.  They’re fast, but I love running on the trails.  They’re a lot more fun.  I like to run at Washington Crossing, between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  They have maybe about 15 or 20 miles of horse trails back there, and we just go there and hit the mountains and have a good time.”

Capaldi says he encourages everyone to check with a local running store and get into a training program and try it.  The main sponsor of the Broad Street Rerun is the Physical Therapy and Wellness Institute, and proceeds benefit the local chapter of the Hemophilia Foundation.  About 800 runners competed this year.
