3rd And Walnut Bar: Nuisance Or Not?

beerControversy over the Third and Walnut Bar surfaced at last week’s Lansdale Borough Council Meeting, with Brian Dailey of Third Street taking Councilman Jack Hansen to task for attending a liquor license renewal hearing for what he considers a nuisance bar. “Councilman Hansen, frankly, I was very disappointed to see you standing in support of the bar and the bar owner, given the negative impact that it has had.”

He said the problems include fighting and littering.  Hansen said he was not taking sides, he just wanted to find out what was going on, and he does not believe the owner is trying to create a nuisance.

“He does a lot of business.  I’m sure that he brings in a lot of money.  I don’t know how much, I don’t know his books.  I’ve never been in the establishment while it’s open.”

Hansen said the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board issued three citations over three years, and that was all that came up at the hearing.
