Lansdale Menorah Lit

menorahResidents of Lansdale and nearby communities gathered Wednesday night to celebrate Hanukkah with a Menorah Lighting at Railroad Plaza. The celebration included a sing-along and best wishes for a peaceful holiday.  Mayor Andy Szekely said it’s another example of the diversity that makes Lansdale a great place to live.

“From the different events I’ve been to this year so far you have folks from Burma who live in Lansdale, folks from India, Bangladesh, Hungary, you name it, so anything that promotes understanding in the borough I’m all for.”

Hanukkah lasts for eight days, and each night another candle is lit on the Menorah to mark the re-dedication of a temple in Jerusalem more than 2,000 years ago after an invading army desecrated it.
