Camp Erin Coming To Bucks Co

jamieFormer Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer’s nonprofit foundation is bringing its “Camp Erin” to Bucks County in May. It’s a bereavement camp for children ages 6 to 17 who have lost loved ones.  He says everyone suffers losses, but it’s especially difficult for kids.

“Many times kids don’t know how to cope with these types of feelings and anger and everything else that’s going on, but at these camps every child who is there is going through the same thing, so we feel like they all heal together, they make many great friendships, and hopefully some lifelong friendships.”

Moyer says his foundation and the University of Pennsylvania Wissahickon Hospice will host the Bucks County “Camp Erin” May 13 through 15 at the Diamond Ridge Camps in Jamison.  It will combine traditional camping activities with grief counseling and support.  A fundraiser to benefit the Moyer Foundation will be held on May 17 At Citizens Bank Park, hosted by Karen and Jamie Moyer (pictured here).  He appeared Wednesday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
