PA Gaming Going Well

slotSpectrum Gaming Group Senior Vice President Joe Weinert says slot machines and table games are going strong and growing at Pennsylvania casinos, and there is no letup in sight. “Pennsylvania has really been the shining star from the industry’s perspective.  The recession really whacked the industry and showed, for the first time, that it was not recession-proof.  But in Pennsylvania, because it started strong and then more properties opened and then it did table games, its growth has been nothing short of phenomenal, to the point where there’s a good chance that it will become the second largest gaming jurisdiction in the country, behind Nevada, in the very near future.”

Weinert says slot machine revenue is about equal now in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and at some point the Commonwealth will pull ahead in both slot and table game revenue.  Although Atlantic City has a lot more hotel rooms than any Pennsylvania venue, and high rollers expect to be put up for the night, he says Parx in Bucks County and the other Pennsylvania casinos are attracting good numbers of players.  His company, which provides consulting services for casinos and related businesses, held a Gaming Congress recently in Philadelphia.  He appeared Monday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
