Lansdale held its annual Memorial Day Parade and service honoring fallen veterans Monday at Memorial Park. The main speaker at the service, Virgilio-Schembri-Bottavio Veterans Post Commander Pat Angelis, said most Americans do not think of themselves as warlike, but many have made the supreme sacrifice.
“Hundred of thousands of American men and women have shed their blood to keep America free.”
He said Americans are willing to step up when their country needs them.
“The United States of America is the greatest country in the world because its people are great. No other people in the world are more generous, more God-fearing, more industrious, more inventive than Americans. It seems that every time Americans are called to arms we have the right generation to get the job done.”
Angelis said we must always remember the veterans who gave their lives for their country, not only now but in future generations.
