Doylestown Appraiser and Auctioneer Mike Ivankovich says he helps people convert personal property to cash, but he doesn’t buy anything. He gives his opinion of what things are worth, and tells them not to sell anything until they know what it’s worth. He recommends the multi-step approach he calls AVID.
“Step one, Analyze the situation. Take a look at what you have. Don’t start selling randomly. V, Value it. Get a value before you do anything. I, Investigate your options. You have different options when it comes time to sell. Sell it at auction, sell it on eBay, sell it at a consignment shop. Figure out what’s best for you.”
Once you know all of those things he says D, Dispose of it, but allow enough time to exercise your options.
“I had one lady call me one time on a Thursday saying, ‘I have to be out of my house by Saturday. What can you do for me?’ She had no options.”
And Ivankovich says never sell anything to the person who tells you what it’s worth. He Appeared Wednesday on the WNPV talk program “Legally Speaking.”
