Local Man Still Has Eye On Old SAHS As Movie Set

Old_Souderton_High_SchoolFilmmaker Eric Moyer of Souderton says he still hopes to shoot “School Spirits” at the old high school (pictured here), which closed two years ago. He graduated from the school in 1991, and he says it’s the perfect movie set.

“You couldn’t ask for a better set.  My film is set in an abandoned high school.  They aren’t doing anything with it, and I know it’s costing the taxpayers money, so I went to them with my offer and the superintendent said no.”

He says he made a good offer.

“I was going to cover liability insurance.  I was going to offer them an amount of money to be determined.  I offered to get the students involved as production assistants.  I offered to set up a film and media scholarship fund.  I offered to cover every expense that they would incur.  I was told that they were worried about the floodgates opening for more productions, and I say let the floodgates open.  Why not rent the building out?  It’s costing them money.”

Moyer says the movie will get made even if he has to go somewhere else, but he would like to do it at the old Souderton Area High School.  He says he wrote the script for the movie, about a father and daughter trying to get ghosts out of an abandoned high school, and people who support him can send e-mails to This email address is being protected from spambots.
