Filmmaker Eric Moyer of Souderton says he still hopes to shoot “School Spirits” at the old high school (pictured here), which closed two years ago. He graduated from the school in 1991, and he says it’s the perfect movie set.
“You couldn’t ask for a better set. My film is set in an abandoned high school. They aren’t doing anything with it, and I know it’s costing the taxpayers money, so I went to them with my offer and the superintendent said no.”
He says he made a good offer.
“I was going to cover liability insurance. I was going to offer them an amount of money to be determined. I offered to get the students involved as production assistants. I offered to set up a film and media scholarship fund. I offered to cover every expense that they would incur. I was told that they were worried about the floodgates opening for more productions, and I say let the floodgates open. Why not rent the building out? It’s costing them money.”
