Gwynedd Green Promotes Better Lawn And Garden Practices

Green_GreenGwynedd Green committee member Heidi North says her organization started a few years ago as a Lower Gwynedd recycling committee, but members found that residents had broader concerns. Now she says it’s trying to raise awareness of sustainability and preserving natural beauty through better lawn care and gardening practices.  For example, she says, weed killers and other chemicals can adversely affect all organisms living in an entire biological community.

“Once you influence the soil you’re influencing the insect life and then the bird life and the top of the Food Chain including the predators such as the hawks, foxes and man.”

North says anything Mother Nature has not produced should get, at the very least, great scrutiny.  She appeared Thursday on the monthly Transportation Edition of the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
