Upper Gwynedd officials are considering an ordinance that would amend their zoning code to allow adult entertainment businesses in areas that are designated for industrial use. The township commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposal at their meeting next Monday. Upper Gwynedd officials say this is not an invitation for adult oriented businesses to move into the township but without an ordinance that specifies where the use is permitted an applicant could petition the zoning hearing board to allow them in any part of the community. The ordinance under consideration on Monday also includes provisions that would allow bigger and taller billboards in industrial zones and put a spacing requirement between them. In addition, taverns would be made a permitted use in village commercial, transit oriented overlay and shopping center districts as well as in commercial districts by special exception.
