North Wales Library Board President Kirk Field says budgeting is difficult since the state cut subsidies to local libraries by about 40 percent over the last few years.
He says they get funding in several ways.
“It comes from grants, and the Univest grant of $5,000 is an example. It comes also from multiple fundraisers. We have an Annual Appeal fundraiser going on right now.”
Field is referring to a $5,000 check Univest gave the library Tuesday from the Committed to Local program, which promotes youth health and literacy. He says most nonprofits have to cobble together a budget any way they can during today’s economy, and the North Wales Library was fortunate that it actually raised more than enough to cover last year’s budget. He appeared Tuesday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest, which was broadcast live from the North Wales Library.
