Another highlight of Founder’s Day was the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award given to Fire Marshal Jay Daveler, who has served the borough for more than 50 years, including 44 as Chief of the Fairmount Fire Company.
The award came from Discover Lansdale, the borough-funded nonprofit that planned the day’s events, and Daveler says the honor took him by surprise.
“I was kind of shocked when I heard about it. I’m very, very happy about it, very pleased that the borough saw fit to choose me for this award, but I had a lot of people help me. I had a close relationship with the Police Department. Public Works, the Electric Department, all of the other departments that I worked with over the years helped put me here today. I had a tremendous amount of help.”
Daveler says he has always enjoyed running his businesses, but he has really enjoyed serving Lansdale Borough.
