Lansdale officials are preparing an ordinance that would create tobacco-free zones in parks.
Borough Council Member Mary Fuller says it will apply in areas where children gather and play.
“Playgrounds, tot lots, swimming pools, ballfields, and we’ll be working in cooperation with the state’s program called, ‘Young Lungs at Play.’”
She says violators will be asked to leave that area of the park. A broader ban on tobacco use on all borough-owned property failed to gain support of a council majority. The ordinance could come up for a vote at the November 28 council meeting.
