A restoration project at the Pearl S. Buck House in Hilltown is nearing completion.
The award-winning author lived in the house with her second husband, Richard Walsh, from 1935 until his death in 1960.
The original house was built around 1740, with major additions around 1825 and again between 1935 and 1938.
Curator Donna Rhodes says there are only about 300 National Historic Sites about a woman, and the Pearl S. Buck House is one of only ten where everything in the house was actually used by the woman and her family. There are no reproductions or props.
The total cost of the restoration is about $2.8 million.
