Firm Developing Washington Crossing Master Plan

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission has hired an architectural firm to develop a master plan for Washington Crossing Historic Park in Bucks County.

The park marks the spot where General George Washington led Continental Army troops across the icy Delaware River for a surprise attack on Hessian troops at Trenton, New Jersey in December of 1776, but commission spokesman Howard Pollman says it’s also more than that.

“500 acres, 40 buildings, and that’s the point of the master plan.  It’s to examine the park’s resources – the buildings, the grounds, the collections – and figure out how best to take care of them.”

Pollman says the master plan, to be completed in the summer of this year, will incorporate ideas from state and local elected officials and neighboring residents and business owners.
