Montco. Sheriff Clears Up Confusion on Owning a Firearm

Buying a gun and obtaining a permit to carry a firearm has some confused about how the process works in Pennsylvania. Montgomery County Sheriff, Eileen Behr says, random violence over the last year has led to more gun sales.

“It wasn’t so much Connecticut but Colorado. We saw the splurge and a lot of people were coming in and the lines were very long because the background checks were just overloaded. We found out that some people who wanted a gun for their home were waiting line for a permit to carry in public. If you’re carrying public you need a license, but if want a gun for your home you don’t need a license.”

Sheriff Behr adds, it’s important to get a gun lock and take a course on how to handle a gun and properly take care it. Sheriff Behr was a guest Monday morning on the WNPV program, Security Advisors On Radio with Dave Gordon and Mike Dayoc.
