Lansdale officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday for the Streetscape improvements along Broad, Main and Madison streets. The upgrades include new sidewalks, street lights and lots of other amenities for pedestrians. Borough Council Member, Denton Burnell says, they make a difference
“The walkability, safety of movement and lighting improvement have drawn more people to the downtown area. Attendance at the various events has increased.”
Congresswoman, Allyson Schwartz, attended the ceremony and remembered visiting Lansdale after winning election for her first term.
“I’d say it looked a little different in 2005. I do talk about Lansdale as a model for, not only Montgomery County and the state, but the nation as well.”
Schwartz got the project going with a Federal grant of 2.5 million dollars.
