Souderton Borough Council is likely headed back to the drawing board on how to pay for improvements to the Borough’s Chestnut Street Playground. According to Borough officials, contractors looking to land the job of renovating the playground have left borough officials stunned by the costs associated with the improvements. Borough officials estimated the job at around 324-thousand dollars. The contractor offering the best deal cam in at 470-thousand dollars. Souderton Borough raised money through its 125th anniversary and received funds through a community block grant, but the combined amount is far below the low bid of 470-thousand dollars.
