An effort to bring awareness to the sacrifices that Americans have made in the wake of the 911 attacks 12 years ago continues to pick up steam. Doylestown VFW Post 175 is the lead organization on a move to create a Global War On Terror Memorial. VFW Post 175 Commander, Rich Scott says, the Bucks County Commissioners have provided space for the memorial. Scott was a guest on the AM-Edition this morning with Darryl Berger.
“The Global War On Terror Memorial will be placed in the courtyard of the existing courthouse, near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.’
Scott says, the Memorial will be a globe shaped, where people will be able to walk around inside and see a variety of things related to the war on terror, including a piece of the runway from Bagram, Afghanistan.
“When you walk in, you’ll see the piece of runway and you’ll be able to see other photos and biographies of the many people who sacrificed so much for our nation.”
The cost of the Memorial is estimated at 200,000 dollars. Fundraising efforts have already raised 81,000 dollars. If anyone would like to make a donation to the Memoiral, call the Doylestown VFW Post 175 at 215-512-5300
