Montgomery County officials are putting away the help wanted sign. On Thursday, County officials announced a hiring freeze, except if a position needs to be filled to ensure emergency services delivery, public safety or regulatory requirements. With another tough budget process coming up, Commissioner Chairman, Josh Shapiro says, the county Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Financial officer will review every new hire.
“And ensure that it meets the standards that they set at the position and if has to be filled. An example will be a 911 operator.”
The hiring restrictions will remain in effect until the budget picture for next year comes into focus.
