A defense contractor is moving out of Bucks County and taking more than a thousand jobs out of the local economy. Citing cuts in Federal spending, Lockheed Martin will close its Newtown Township facility. Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick says, his office will work with the displaced employees, but not much could be done to impact the decision.
“Corporations from time to time take a look at the business contracts and models. They made a very difficult decision. It closes the Newtown office, which has been doing commercial satellite development.”
Lockheed Martin was in Newtown Township for 20 years, consolidating there, after closing facilities in Montgomery County and New Jersey.
