Shoppers Come Out in Force To Take Advantage of Early Sales

For years, there has been hype associated with holiday shopping, but this season there US a new spin that’s drawing more attention to a process that many see as
over-the-top consumerism. But still, millions of shoppers like the idea of being able to get a jump on Black Friday. Last night, stores were open on Thanksgiving Day, many for the first time, but it’s nothing new to Walmart

“We’ve open on Thanksgiving Day since 1988. We serve a lot of food. We are the country’s largest grocer. We go from a pretty busy food day to a pretty busy merchandise day. We had our events Thursday night at 6pm and 8pm and they were fantastic.”

That’s Dave Tovar, V.P. of Communications for Walmart. Tovar says, Walmat guaranteed 21 items, selling over two million television sets, 1.4 million tablets and 1.9 million dolls. Tovar was a guest on the AM Edition Friday morning with Darryl Berger.
