It’s Radon Action Month in Pennsylvania. Bob Lewis is with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Lewis says Pennsylvania is prone to radon. He advises homeowners to buy a test kit at Home Depot or Lowe’s.
“Put the test kit in the basement for two to four days. This an ideal time to do the testing, because the house is closed up. After two to four days it’s sent back to a laboratory and in a week or two they will get the results. They can get in touch with us up here in Harrisburg to some interpretation for the results and see if they need to do anything further.”
Lewis, a guest on the AM Edition this morning, says radon is a natural radioactive gas that is in the soil and rocks, and can cause lung cancer.
