Woman Who Poisoned Pets Wants Them Returned

montco_courthouseA former Towamencin woman wants to get back the cats and a dog that were taken from her in an animal cruelty case. 57-year-old Linda Muchnick, who now lives in Pottstown, was found not guilty by reason of insanity.  A Montgomery County judge found that she was incapable of understanding the consequences of her actions.  In her request for return of property, she says she now has a suitable home and suitable income to support 17 cats and one dog that are under SPCA care.  Twelve other cats died after her arrest in August of last year.  She had fed them rat poison.  While she was cleared of the criminal charges, she is still under court order to continue mental health treatment.  Prosecutors say a note in Muchnick’s home said she planned to kill herself along with her pets because of financial hardship.  She felt it was the only way out, and she wanted to join them in Heaven.
