The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says Fretz Road has re-opened to traffic between Tomlinson Road in Towamencin Township and Skippack Creek Road in Lower Salford. It was closed in March for reconstruction. It was part of the first contract to build the five-mile-long Sumneytown Pike/Route 309 Connector. PennDot is also building a new section of Sumneytown Pike between Old Forty Foot and Freed Roads and rebuilding Wambold Road from Sumneytown Pike to Allentown Road. The job should be finished by late 2012 at a cost of nearly $23 million. Construction on the eastern part of the connector, between Allentown Road and Route 309, should start in 2021.
