The Upper Gwynedd Township Commissioners will hear testimony later this month about a request to re-zone property near South Broad Street and Sumneytown Pike. It needs to be changed to R-3 before a developer can proceed with plans for more housing than its current R-2 designation allows. Code Enforcement Officer Bill Lawrence says sketch plans show that the developer is willing to work with the owners of single-family homes in an adjacent neighborhood.
“He has re-arranged his sketch plans to show the singles abutting those properties that are singles, and the townhouses will be on the other side of his cul-de-sac.”
Lawrence says the public hearing on June 28 will be confined to zoning issues, and other questions will be dealt with later during the land development process. The developer wants to build six single-family homes and 15 townhouses on about five acres.
